Filmmaking class, in collaboration with Outfest, is by application only. 15 participants will be chosen each year. Classes are from November to March and taught by film industry professionals. Each participant will be mentored by a professional filmmaker and will make a short film to be screened at the Fusion Film Festival and entered into competition at the Outfest film festival.

Gender and Social Justice Poetry writing workshop where participants will explore basic skills of journaling and keeping a log of their own personal life stories. Participants will build a collection of individuals and group poems. They will learn the power of editing and rewriting. They'll also turn these powerful words into performance pieces and be given tools to ease performance anxiety, stage fright and shyness. Participants will learn about LGBTQQ spirit, and Eros—in this way, dismantling negative narratives and creating positive narratives through poetry and empowerment

OutsideVoices

Meets Thursdays at 4:30pm-7pm Outside Voices is a Gay-Straight Alliance and performance ensemble for young singers.  Directed by staff of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. Open to all genders and voices, ages 13-22.  Attend an open rehearsal every Thursday to audition--new members must call in advance or be brought by another member.

C.A.N.
LifeWorks Community Action Network (CAN) is a group of youth leaders and staff who meet weekly to develop the skills to build community and create social change. Youth are trained in "public narrative," the art of telling your own story as a way to create empathy and change. CAN collaborates with local high schools & GSA's to build capacity for change. An activist theatre program, for emerging LGBTQ youth artists who want to "spark" change in their communities. Participants work together to collaborate, write, and perform an original theatre work that also speaks to transforming the world we live in.

TYS brings together trans* & gender non-binary youth & strong allies to create social media videos for social change, with a strong emphasis on shifting conversations around gender. A great group to join if you want to change the world!
